standard optic for m4?

is there a standard optical scope for an M4 in the millitary? i thought i saw some w/ that holigraphic scope but was not sure. i want to put one on my AR and want a good one but am not sure what to get.

any suggestions?

Some are issued Aimpoints, some get Acogs. Some purchase their own if allowed to.
For non military it depends on your planned use. I love my Acogs but they are not made for printing tiny little groups on paper. IF under 100 yards a lot of people lije either Aimpoints or Eotechs. The reticules are different and some like the simple Aimpoint dot while others like the eotech one.

They are all well made optics but it is personal preferance on what you like. I suggest you hit the range and ask if you can at least look through some if the owners will allow it so you can have an idea what will work for you.

There are a bunch of other optics out there that are well made. Expect to spend anywhere from 400 on up for a red dot type scope to up to 1200 for an Acog (depending on model)

The rifle as is with irons, is the standard. Some however are issued with end item kits (think SOPMOD) and others have optics issued after the fact or as part of RFI.

USMC standard that I have seen is ACOG/RCO with M-16A4's and M-4's unless you are in some super pogue unit that still uses A2's (now this is cominging from an Arty guy, but I've been with the grunts for the past 3 yrs as an 81's Plt Sgt plus a tour on a MITT with a 0369 fitrep so I can talk a little crap)
