    RDS Question

Does anyone have any real world experience with the Holosun 507 and the Holosun 509?

Can you tell me if the window size in the 509 is larger, smaller, or about the same as the 507.

    1. Treat all guns as if loaded (even when you know they aren't).
    2. Never point the muzzle at anything you aren't willing to destroy.
    3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target.
    4. Know your target and what is beyond it (avoid all collateral damage).

they're the same height and width but the 507 has a more aggressive curve at the top of the glass like a rmr so it's a little less glass.

It won't be an apple to apple comparison because of the different shape of the two windows, but the 509 looks slightly bigger to my eyes. Buy just an FYI. Holosun just debuted a new 507 model with a noticeably bigger window (bigger than the previous 507 and the 509):

Will answer the size/window question when I can take both pistols out and measure.

507 is an open reflex, 509 is a closed reflex FWIW.

The 509 has a rectangular window that's otherwise the same height and width, and is therefore technically bigger. Functionally they're the same size, you need to compare something like the new 507 Comp to a 507 to actually notice the difference.

They do feel a bit different in use, the 509 is a closed emitter, and has a thinner top, but is overall higher. If they're mounted at the same height your height over bore is noticeably different if you're super used to one vs the other.

I have both, use both regularly, and it makes no difference, I also have a 508 which has the squared off window of the 509, but in an open reflex chassis with the lower height over bore of the 507.

Thanks for the real-world review. I decided to go with the 509, My wife has the 507 on her nightstand gun. I have an SRO on my CZ Shadow 2 and I was thinking the 509 might be slightly smaller form factor.
