    Bushnell Elite 1500 rangefinder

I recently purchased a used but like new Bushnell Elite 1500 rangefinder. Try as I may, I cannot get the thing to range past about 700 yards despite the unit's rating to 1500 yards. I had it on a stable tripod for the tests. The battery is at nominal charge level. The lenses are clean. I have tried reflective and shaded areas with no result. Anyone here have experience with these?

I've known these units to reach 1200 yards so something is not right. "Used" might be the operative word here.

We'll have to do a side by side comparision with my old Lieca 1200. In the brush around here, I can only get 400-600 yards from it but, I've got it to range over 1000 yards on plywood number boards so, I know it can work at longer ranges.

I got it out in the open today and it locked onto a house at 950yds. Nothing further though.

Put some SOLAS tape on a distant wall and see if that does the trick. When coming up with those ranges, the manufacturers use the highest reflectivity targets they can find. Real-world performance is usually lower.
