Problem focusing with scope wearing glasses

I was at a gunshop this afternoon and I was checking out a Leupold 3x9x50 scope as I recall. I don't remember the model number.

I could not see the target clearly when looking thru the top part of my glasses, use for my nearsighedness, but the target was in focus when I did not use my glass and pretty much in focus when I looked the bifocal part of my glasses. I don't think this scope had a focus adjustment.

Can anyone tell me why I was having problems with this scope? I though I should be able to use scope with glasses.

I had no problem with eye relief.

The rear (ocular) ring adjusts for focus. It's got a lock ring and focus adjustment built into it.

Are you wearing bi-focals? I've only been wearing glasses for less than three years and I have progressive bi-focals. If the transitional part of the lens is the area of your glasses that you end up looking through while you are looking through your scope, you're screwed! You will need to adjust your glasses, get different glasses (I can only shoot well with my perscription sun glasses since the transition is very low on the lens), or change the way the scope is mounted on your rifle.

        Are you wearing bi-focals?
Yes, but not the progressive kind. I tried those years ago and I did not like them. I found them to be a pain since there was only a certain small part of the lens that could be used for close up reading. With a regular line type bifocal you don't move you head around to hit the spot where the bifocal works well. With line bifocal you just move you eyes while looking thru the bifocal part of the lens.
