    Zero red dot before magnifier?

This may seem like a silly question, but I have a Romeo 5 and Juliet 3 micro on my Ruger 10/22 that I just built. Looking to hit the range and sight them.

Should I sight the red dot solo, before clicking over the mag, then sight the mag on the dot?

Or can I just sight them together using the magnifier and sighting the red dot through it? I worry that this may make the dot off without the magnifier, just looking to validate that worry.

I'm also using zeroing targets meant for M16A1 at 25y, but I assume that the target doesn't matter so much as the distance does. (i have a rangefinder to set it to 25 or 50 if the range is long enough)

    Thanks in advance
