Best scope for a Ruger 10/22: UTG Bug Buster

No, this is not the best glass for the money. Nor the best scope you can put on a 10/22. But if you're looking for a 3-9x scope that will fit on a 10/22 takedown and yet compact enough to fit inside your original Ruger Takedown case, and for the price and size, it's not that bad. Even better if you can get this on sale for under $89.

Made in China. Junk. Plus it helps fund the military of Red China, which I do try to avoid when I can.

A much better option is a made-in-Philippines Simmons Whitetail Classic in 3-9x40. That's actually what's on my 10/22, and no, it ain't a Leupold VX-2 or even VX-1/Redfield Revolution, but it's been a good choice for the 10/22.

Folks, please, if you're going to look for inexpensive riflescopes, and that's not inappropriate on a .22LR, then stay away from the Red China junk. If you're going to get an overseas-made scope, at least do the Philippines, where A.) they're actually a friend to the USA, and B.) they make decent scopes.

These are made in Taiwan (the "Good China"), our ally. The Simmons is about 13" long which is 5" longer.

I bought a bug buster with the intention of putting it on my 10/22 takedown Magpul.

I got the Magpul 10/22 picatinny mount that actually attaches to the barrel in front of the receiver so I installed a Holosun 810C green dot and it’s lighter and easy to see.

Still have the bug buster just sitting around.

Had a bug buster on the 10-22. Was ok, but didn't do anything well. Sold it and installed a Leopold vx-freedom 3-9 rimfire. Bit bigger, bit more expensive, a lot better scope.

Right with you there on ol' "Shotgun Joe"; he has been terrible for this country.

If it's a ChiCom-owned company, then it supports the Red Chinese military, which is not a good thing for us. Maybe for the heads of Red China, but not for us.

I've bought things made in Taiwan by Taiwanese companies. I'll go for that. But Red China...not if I can avoid it.

I know that the scope is short. It may be convenient on a 10/22 Take-Down. But the Philippine-made Simmons Whitetail Classic, or Vortex Viper, or similar if you just don't want to buy a Leupold/Redfield, would be a better choice than ChiCom-made.
