    Mounting a NF Scope

I need to mount a NF Scope on a Remy rifle...I have never mounted a scope before. What tools do I need and what kind of screws will my Seekins Rings have? Should I attempt to do this myself or pay to have it done?

It's a NF dude - no room for error. Go pay someone to have it done. Try and watch him/her install it so you can do it next time.

Most mount comes with Allen head or Torx. And they usually include tool for it.
But NF requires ring lapping to retain warranty. Unless you use their one-piece mount.
If not sure, use gunsmith. Receipt of installation will help with any issue with NF, if any.

Most recommend 15 in-lb for screws.

      Goo luck.
'Cuz big holes are easier to see.

You can correct my spelling and grammar error anytime.
I welcome it. How else would I learn.

It's relatively painless but there are some specific tools that assure you'll get it on, level and aligned. A scope level kit, inch lb torque wrench (please please please don't over tighten your rings!), ring alignment tool if needed, boresight tool - basic handtools, maybe Torx type driver bits depending upon the type of rings you have. You might want to take it to a 'smith or see if you can hook up with a calguns member that's local that has the tools and know how.

You're kidding me right? Do you pay someone to change your light bulbs? Firearms require a certain amount of mechanical abilities, mounting a scope is probably the lowest level of mechanical ability necessary.

To the OP, mounting a scope is a DIY operation. The typical CGN response is "send it to a 'smith"

Here is a link to the instructions: http://www.usoptics.com/video/mntHi.wmv

If you insist on "sending it to a 'smith" then be careful of who you go to. Here is an example of what happens when a "smith" doesn't realize that there is supposed to be a gap between the upper and lower rings.

Thankfully for the owner that US Optics replaced the scope at no charge, even if the fault was due to the 'smith

OK, so its something that I shouldn't try myself...I am trying to get this all done by Monday night or tuesday day so I will have time to sight it in before I leave for Big Bear and the shoot this coming Saturday...Anybody local in the Santa Clarita area that has all the tools and experience? I am willing to drive as well...

If the guy has a scope that's probably well worth 1k+ and he's ASKING whether or not he should attempt to install it... Why on earth would he risk damaging it? I don't know about you, but if I didn't know what I was doing with such an expensive piece of equipment, taking it to someone who knows what they're doing (for a small fee) is far better off than having a botched install or worse, a BROKEN scope.

Thanks....I can fix your body, probably sew wounds and place lines and inturpret 12 lead ekg's, but I really do not want to tinker with something that costs more than what some people make in a month!!

If it truly is that easy, maybe I will take a look at it, but having never done one, I like to follow the addage of: see one, do one, teach one...
