RMRcc on a Shield Plus?

I should have done my homework ahead of time but I didn't.

Due to my bad vision up close, I bought a RMRcc in hopes of putting it on a carry gun.
Now I found a carry gun that I'd like to try, a Shield Plus.

I PM'd a gentleman on here that does machining and he says that the RMRcc can not be put on the Shield Plus without cutting off the rear dovetail.

Is this because of the physical dimensions of the RMRcc or because of the bolt hole pattern? ( I realize you can only drill and tap certain areas of the slide)

Although I think I could go without the rear sights because of my vision, it would totally kill the resale value of the gun should I ever decide to sell it.

Does anyone here have any recommendations beside going with a Holosun?

There is an adapter plate for shields at the Trijicon RMRcc webpage. Not sure they have one for the Shield Plus, but it does require mounting on the rear sight dove tail. There also have links to places that will mill the slides.

Yes, the dimension of the RMRcc is identical to the RMR in terms of length. Because of it, you lose the rear sight (unless you have it milled for some proprietary plate/footprint). I'm milling mine at Dynamic Weapons Solutions in Huntington Beach. I should be receiving it any day now. I'll update with photos.

I know you already have an RMRcc but you might consider a different sight that has backup irons built in like the Shield RMSc, Holosun 507k, or the new EPS Carry. If you decide to sell the pistol and sell it together, with the sight, I do not see resale value taking much hit, many buyers wouldn't even consider it.

My logic for going with an RMRcc over other RDS: Of course having a BUS is best, but the reason I choose Trijicon is for their durability and reliability. I mark my batteries and only buy Japanese made CR2022. I'm not on the Holosun bandwagon ...yet. I've read a few stories about the dot [significantly] shifting, although their warranty exchange went smoothly and the new replacement did not exhibit the same issue. For me, I won't be selling any of my guns unless the CA roster magically disappears. A lot of people seem to be anti-RMRcc because of its footprint, but if you think of it like a permanent attachment to the gun, then any worry you might have about resale goes away.

Ya... I'm not happy about it either. They claim to have left me a voicemail about the hold-up within the first month. They said they wanted to notify me of the loss of the rear dovetail, when milling for an RMRcc, but we already discussed it and I was well aware. It's been a month now since having this chat and they haven't been exactly forthright with updates.

Did they have you pay up-front? I found that to be an odd practice. It locks you into their processing schedule, which is where I find myself now. I had previosly paid for their same-day service on another pistol, which took them 4 days to complete.

I put a holosun 507k on mine. It Is actually a shield 1.0 with a shield plus side. I bought the slide on eBay. Well, first I bought a complete .40 slide and 9mm conversion barrel and I was going to mill that slide to keep my 9mm slide factory but while that slide was shipping I saw a complete shield plus slide for sale on eBay so I bought that. Now I have options for 9mm iron sights, .40 iron sights, or 9mm with the holosun.
I had to use a CH adapter plate to keep from filling off the rear lugs but it would fit that way too

I did not have to mill the slide as the shield plus slide came factory milled for the shield plus RMS and finished. The shield rms and the holosun 507k are the same footprint, but the rear lugs that are factory milled for the rms stick up a little higher than the 507k so you can either file them down a small amount and use the 507k without an adapter plate but would require refinishing or use the plate and leave the factory finish alone. That is what I chose mostly to not have to worry about refinishing or sending it without refinishing as it's my edc and will be exposed to weather.
