Help me decide on a scope

Well, having a hard time deciding on what scope to buy. Just bought a HMR pro in 6.5 prc. Going to mainly be a range/hunting rifle, but would like to shoot 1000+ yards at some point. Looking to spend under 2k.

It's not going to be a good hunting rifle. And as great as a 6x Zeiss scope is that won't do well at 1k yards. You need two rifles. But for the HMR look for something with solid turrets and decent glass. The high end Vortex Bushnells Burris and Leupold are popular. 5-25x zoom is a good range.

Lots of good choices out there depending on your pocketbook. I think under $2K, try to stick to Japanese glass if possible, and there are lots. Outside of the usual suspects: Burris, Nightforce, Vortex, Leupold, Athlon, .... I think Arken is shaking up the scene hard with Low priced but feature heavy scopes.

I think an Arken EP5 5-25X56mm FFP is calling your name. I have one of these buggers and will be buying another one of their scopes in the future. Bang for the buck is heavy with these guys. You can read up on them at snipers hide.

One of the Japanese made scopes that is kinda popular right now are Tract Toric scopes. This one looks good: TORIC 4.5-30x56. I need MOAR guns

Europtics has really good deals and had some great stuff from Vortex, Athlon under the $2K ceiling...good times. Nightforce NX8 2.5-20 is just under $2K, but there are some people who don't dig them so much.

Lastly, you can find great used scopes for sale at snipers hide.

That's quite a heavy hunting rifle, but the Zeiss V4 or the Leupold VX5HD are two excellent hunting scopes that you can also use to shoot 1000. Both are reasonably light (19-22 ounces).

                  Nightforce for me

Bought this one for my 6.5CM and 300WIN. 1000 yard targets look big.

Nightforce Optics Quick Review magnification range: 4-14X scope weight: 28.5 ounces scope length: 14.8 inches eye relief: 3.15 - 3.54 inches scope finish: matte black tube size: 30mm illuminated reticle: yes

for that kind of money, i think the value buy is the leupold mk5 hd.
if you are ex-mil, you can also get a discount, or you can find them used for a better price.

Where long range precision shooting is involved, high-end optics are part of the mix and having the best long range […]

                    * full disclosure, i run the 3.6-18x on my .308 gas gun.

I've shot steel past 1000 with both. They are plenty capable.

For that rifle, this also would be a good choice.

This is the Leupold Mark 4 in 4-5x14 magnification. It's the same scope the US Army uses on the .50 BMG sniper rifles. I recently mounted one on a Winchester 70 in 7mm Rem Mag, and it's good at letting you see things out there, even to 1,000 yards, pretty clearly.
