    Image Stabilizing Binoculars

Has anyone owned or used the Canons and Fujicons? I am looking at getting for boat use. Thoughts?

Thanks, I checked out the Frasers but 4.2k is out of my league. Your opinion on Canons?

Check out the Sig Zulu6 image stabilized binoculars too.

I use the Canons. Best binocs I've ever used. I only used image stabalized now. I can watch the bullet's going down range. A dude showed me them while shooting in a PRS match. Amazing.

PM me if you want more information. I will not go back to non-image stabalized.

I use Canon 18x50 IS binoculars and I have had them for about five years. While they are a great pair of binoculars, some have reported issues if you do a search on them. The covers for the ocular lens basically fall off every time you put them in the case as they are not very snug on the eye cups. Some have reported issues with the rubber coating getting gummy/tacky or coming off but I have not had that issue. Others say that might be because the users put on bug spray/sunscreen and then touch the binoculars but I don’t know if this is an actual issue.

They don’t come with objective lens covers (at least mine did not) so you need to order those separately if you would like them. The width adjustment for different users can be a bit tricky but I am generally the only one using mine so it’s not an issue. Finally, if you wear glasses the rubber eye cups can be a pain so you need to fold them back. Overall, I find the clarity and image detail to be on par with much more expensive binoculars and would buy them again if I needed a new pair.

Handheld, no standard binocular will outperform an image stabilized one.

On a tripod that changes of course.

Disadvantage of IS binoculars is that they’re huge compared to non IS.

Absolutely love my Canon 10x42 IS. I always reach for them first before my alpha glass binos unless I have to pack it in somewhere. Then size and weight considerations taken precedence.

The Sig Zulu6 is fairly small and very light compared to standard binoculars.

used 8x25 Canon IS binoculars for 14 years and cost $215.
used mainly on cruise ships and love them.
100% would buy again, but bigger.

I've used the Fujicons, amazing image. The benefits on the water would be worth it.

Personally for field use I'm not sold on IS Binos based on size, weight, and cost.
