If it's the standard front sight you're working on you just push the sight over. I don't remember any hash marks on the sight to tell how far to push it over. Push it over a bit and shoot it. Repeat as needed. That's all I can remember.

*I assume you have a front sight tool.

I have a "Range Buddy" tool and a micrometer. I just need an idea of how far to move the front sight.

It works just an ak47 front sight pusher.

I had to use some kerosene on the sight to allow it to move. Let it soak in for a while.

Mount the tool, start to turn the pusher. Hear the sight pop loose. After that just do 180 or 360 deg turns on the screw. There is no magic. Turn and test is all I do.

Found this for some info you can build a search off of.
Adjusting the windage on an M1917 rifle is as simple as can be provide the proper tools are available. Front sight blade is moved accordingly. Inexpensive enough to keep one in your range bag, just in case. Photos show tool on the bench and in use. Whatta Hobby! 1917 2.jpg 1917 sight 1.jpg 1917 3.jpg

Try asking this Q in the C&R forum section. Some wisdom in there on these old beauties.

        Good luck to ya!
