AR newbie question about installing iron sights.

I think I got the front post figured out and I'll just look for a hole, but I also see "front sight spring" for sale. I assume the spring goes in the hole first and its job is to keep tension on post because the post doesn't just screw down all the way but is height adjustable and spring keeps it from rattling loose/tight? It looks like the sight inself is a diff unit from the post which I assume is some sort of locknut. You adjust the post threads up or down then lock the tritium sight in correct direction.

But what about these directional post sights? https://www.blitzkriegcomponents.com...e-no-tool.html You get only one thread course adjustment then zero with rear sight, and is there a lock nut they aren't showing they assume I'll have, or is it just Front Sight Spring?

The front sight detent and spring keep the sight post from rotating and prevents involuntary POI changes up/down. Put a little lube on the threads before you screw it in. Detent/spring too.

IIRC the other post you mention just screwed in so it lines up to the rear sight.

*I never use these types of sights because the width throws precision aiming out the window. Narrower is better to get the most accuracy out of the rifle.

For Pete’s sake don’t buy that cockamamie front sight post.
