LPVO mount on fixed front sight upper

Quick question, I want to get an LPVO but my upper has a fixed front sight. What optic mount height should I get?🤔

Would a standard height mount mean absolute witness?

    Your insights are most appreciated.

I failed to properly convey my intention. Would the fixed front post sight be a blurry shadow when an lpvo is mounted?

yes, when it isn't at 1x. for some people, it is distracting, while it doesn't bother others...
you might use a higher mount for more upright 2 eyes open type shooting, which is going to move that front sight down in your scope picture...

Looking at riser mounts is another opened can of worms….Too many options.

I guess I’ll just save up for a new complete upper.

        Thanks for all the replies!

obviously many make it work. it is really about your tolerance for distraction, and of course, whether you are tracking targets where the obscured fov is a problem.

That's my experience from when I used a 1-4x PST on an upper with a standard FSB. 1x wasn't bad, I just saw a slightly blurry FS under the x-hair. At 2x and 3x, the FS becomes a shadowy distortion of light in the lower half of the view that's a little distracting. However, by 4x, you don't hardly notice it. The FS is so out of focus that it disappears from view.

Thanks for the actual field experience on this matter and the descriptions on further magnification. The steel grinder is wooing me the chop off the front sight

I don't even see the front sight when I look through a 4x ACOG. There's a slight shadow that's hardly noticeable.

My OCD tendencies are a bane at times hence, I want to know before delving deeper only to regret later.

It's so cheap to change it to a flip up, though.

Ungh, just get rid of the front post and upgrade the rail with a lo pro gas block. Fixed front posts are soooo 2005. Also don't need irons with LPVO unless you go off set.
