EXPS3-0TAN fuzzy to "me" I'm new to eotech

I picked up an EXPS3-0TAN from EuroOptic. The donut of death reticle looks fuzzy in doors or out doors. Full sun light dose help some. I see photos and video of it looking supper clean. What I see is a washed out. I have no astigmatisms. I had lasik years ago and yearly check ups. Is it my eyes or something more? yes I'm looking past the reticle.

I'm not new to optics just new to eotech. I'm running 2 of t2, 2 of aimpoint pro's, one RMR, and a leupold 1-6 firedot. I did put in a fair bit of time in looking at eotech XPS3 mostly on line. Grand-daddy to mr guns and gear and extra.

I think it's supposed to be. Focus on the target, not the reticle.

Correct. It happens to many people their first time using an EOTech quite common and easy to overcome.

You need to learn to relax your eye and don’t stare at the reticle look beyond into the distance at the target. Once you teach your eye how to shift your focus it will happen again naturally every time.

If you use a magnifier co-witnessed it will instantly look clear and sharp also.

Do you have trouble going from your EOTech to a Red dot and back again to EOTech?

No but EOTechs are more likely to initially look “fuzzy” than a Red Dot. Again it is just a matter of relaxing your eye muscles and defocusing your eyes. Once you “get it” you can’t unlearn it just look into the distance not at the reticle itself and it clears up magically.

I was so pissed when I got my first EOTech I thought it was defective because of the fuzzy reticle, I had to go online just like you did and have someone tell me what I am telling you! LOL!

My recollection from looking through a friend's is that the "donut" has kind of a grainy appearance. I think it's just the nature of the holographic technology. You will learn to appreciate the 1 MOA center dot though. That's a nice feature.

Good knowledge! I honestly did not know this....stupid me for not learning this. I had tried an eotech in the past and dismissed it.

Also don't forget about astigmatism, that's why some see it clear and others fuzzy. I unfortunately have astigmatism on the right eye only and I'm right eye dominant, I have the $700 EXPS 3-0 but it looks like a fuzzy sun, but as a test if I close my right eye and focus through my left eye the reticle looks very clear and crisp.
My Aimpoint dots look fine though, and my 1-6 and 1-8 LPVO scopes look perfect obviously because they're etched. But I still use the Eotech because that's what I've trained on the most and the fuzzy reticle doesn't bother me.
