223 optic set up question

I have a sig 556. I am thinking about using a Leupold VX-II 3-9x33mm Ultralight w/ some type of mini reflex sight mounted on top. Based on the fact that I never see this type of setup I am wondering if there is some type of problem with this. Seems like it would be good for searching and getting up close and personal w/ someone out a ways as well as suitable for close quarters.

Should be fine. Personally, I'd just stick with an RDS sight, ACOG or 1-4x variable.
