    Leupold VX-3L and a 12fvss?

July 10th I am taking possession of my Savage and would like to have optics waiting for it. I was looking around and like the features set / pricing on the VX-3L. Anyone that owns one have anything to add? I am interested in a sub $1200 scope so suggestions are welcome.

What caliber and what are you going to do with it? Punch holes? Hunt ground squirrels? Steel plates? I don't own a Savage but in regards to a scope the basics still apply. I'm no expert but I do know that it's better to match the scope for what you plan to do with it. Leupy's are great hunting scopes but I think you could do better if you plan on shooting long range competition, for instance. You can buy some pretty decent glass for under $1200.

Thanks for the response, the rifle is a .308 and I'll be punching paper. It looks like Tacticalcity has sold me on a Nikon with Badger Ordnance rings.

Nikon Tactical? What magnification? How far are you planning on shooting?
