    Combat long range AR15 scope..

...for 300 + yard engagements. What are the options out there? I don't have half enough knowledge to make a call on a good feild use, rugged scope that allows for accurate engagements 300-600 yards. Any shooters out there use or know of any??

Well for 300 + yard engagements, I am assuming your rig is a SPR? Any of the top 5 scoped will do: US Optics, nightforce, Schimdt & Bender, Leupold etc. Depends on your budget! You can also go with a variable power scope 1-4x magnification such as a trijicon tripower...

      Budget?

If a budget is not a detriment. USO SN-4S 1x4 or USO SN4 1.5x6. The S&B Short Dot is a cool scope too.

Short Dot's more of a CQB scope, though. You'd want a S&B Police Marksman instead. They start around $2k and go up from there...

The Short Dot is still a 1-4x variable and 4x is plenty fine for long engagements with 5.56mm. I've dinged steel at 800 yards with my SPR, but that's right at the edge of its capability (using fast 77gr loads on top of that). For shooting 5.56mm to 600 yards or so, I prefer a 2.5-10x but again, a 1-4x or a straight 4x will get you there as well.

I'm with you... I have no issue using an ACOG to 600m on plates.

If I wanted to tighten up, I'd love a 2.5-10X like the NF. I just wouldn't want to pack on the pounds to the rifle.
