    Replacing ACOG reticle?

Unfortunately due to age related vision deterioration, the fine reticles on my ACOG 3.5x35 TA11F-G proves to be too fine for fast target acquisition. This is the reticle that mine has:

I struggle a bit finding that fine green chevron and my times are increased as a result. I've been using LVPOs such as Nightforce NX8 1-8x and SigSauer Tango6 1-6x and I find the reticle to be much easier to find in quick presentation to the target.

I also have other ACOGs, a particular one that I used to use a lot is this TA-33C with this reticle:

But now I'm also finding this reticle a bit slower to place on the target.

I'm thinking of having Trijicon put this reticle:

Has anyone asked Trijicon for a reticle replacement? How much did it cost you?

I'm still trying to salvage my investment in these ACOGs. Hope to use them for a little bit longer.

It’s called “Circle with Red Chevron”.

I’m afraid my eyes are too old for non battery powered ACOGs, but this one is worth a try if it’s not too expensive to do.

Hmmm, that’s why the reticle is now blurry? These used to be my favorite optic Yes, wearing glasses it’s much sharper, but the reticle is still too fine (now)

Trijicon replaced a reticle for me with a newer version of the horseshoe reticle for free while it was in for service. When I asked them about a non warranty reticle change to another type, they quoted me $600.

Was it in for service for something else, like dead tritium, etc? Were you given a choice of which reticle?

If I have to pay $600, I might as well as apply the funds to a new optic. Won’t buy me a decent one, but it’ll lessen the sting of a good one by a bit.

Do they already offer that reticle? If they have to custom etch it, could be big $$$. Maybe you can just draw on the lens with a sharpie.

I used to shoot with a Trijicon rep and he told me that this was their most asked question for their support line. Their first response was always 'how old are you?'

Two choices: 1) Wear glasses with a mild prescription to maintain distance vision or 2) Replace optics with LPVO

Its only going to get worse with the ACOG

It's time to sell it when a sight starts to not work for the user. Don't dump money into it IMO.

I'm a ta33 and ta11 owner and the light is dimming on them. Once they go I'll fab an LED on the fiber to see it better. Different problem I know but I really like these sights. (10+ yrs)

Well, I sent the TA11F back to Trijicon to have them look at it. The tritium may be dimming. I'll ask about replacing the reticle when it is there if it is free. Otherwise it's off to the marketplace

I get it, though. If my eyes are too old, they're too old. Too bad, ACOGs used to be my #1 optic.

Yes, they bring good money used. Sell them.

Too bad they don't work for the OP. I love my green reticles. Guess im Lucky I can see them. I'm near 70.
