Site Pusher for Springfield XD Slide

Can the group recommend a Site Pusher for the Springfield XD9 Slide? I purchased the unit below, but it would not keep the slide secure enough when I tried to start the pushing mechanism. The slide would lose its lock from the side which allowed it to become off axis.

At these prices, I will be sending it to a gunsmith as I wouldn't get enough use out of it.

Or you could put the slide in a bench vise and use a punch to get the old sight off. Then use a punch to get the new sight on. File the new sight as applicable to get the press fit and then punch the rest of the way.

This is the traditional way of doing things and since nearly everyone already has a bench vise, the cost of a decent punch and a file is negligible.

Thanks for the advice. I am going to send my two slides to Sportsman's Warehouse and have them do it. I paid for the 3 year Firearm Service Plan for both pistols and will let them do it.

Good call. XD slides are notoriously right on sights and a major PITA to change out.

I used a D.D.Machine sight pusher to replace my XD's sights. Worked on my Glock and Kahr also.

The amount of force needed was borderline barbaric.

Hammer, punch and solid/strong vice.

there used to be a guy on XD forums who would swap sights for $20 including shipping and he was quick on his turnaround times too. I hear they use some sort of thread locker or realllllly tight tolerances for their sights.

After doing it myself, I've never even considered going back to a gimmick pusher.
