seems kind of cheap, since opticsplanet still has it for close to the "original" price...

At this price and feature set, it's another cheap Chinese scope branded with an American importer's name. They say it's designed by American engineers, but the specs and QC can't be too tight to keep that price point.

Scopes like this are always a gamble. They may be good, bad, or ugly, but the likelihood of quality glass and construction is low.

There are decent cheap Chinese scopes out there, but you want to stick with well-known companies with reputable support. This may be one, but there's no feedback I know of on them, so you'd be the test case.

Millett, Mueller, and others import Chinese scopes with decent QC and good support, though you'll pay a bit more for them. Magnified optics under $100 are pretty risky buys.
