    9mm AR15 optics

I just built a 9mm ar15, and need some optics for it.

What do you guys have on your 9mm builds? What would you suggest? Any hints, tricks, or links?

I'm new to optics (just have iron sights on most of my ar15 builds) so I know nothing about them! I want something nicer than just iron sights for this baby!

    Thanks!

I don't have a 9mm AR, but I do have a .22 rimfire AR and a 9mm Ruger PC9, and both of them wear red dots - one's got an Aimpoint look-alike, the other has an old Leupold LG-35.

Both are a lot of fun to shoot, and the optic works well given the effective range of the pistol calibers.

AR 15 Parts and Accessories for sale at Primary Arms. Your one stop shop for all your firearms and gun parts with outstanding customer service.

I just bought their M4 Aimpoint clone. It's a lot nicer than airsoft stuff. It's well reviewed by arfcomers and backed by a one year exchange warranty. Customer service is great with this company.

Yeah, Marsh at Primary Arms is a good example of how to do QC with modern Chinese gear. He turns on and checks out every optic before he sends it out, which avoids most of the DOA problems, and offers that 1 year warranty, which is as good as any inexpensive red dot makers offer.

He also tests out the scopes on shotguns, .308s, and even .50 BMG (though a lot of the fail the .50 test).

I've got an el cheapo red/green dot on my 9mm build, works great since the 9mm build has almost no recoil with my 9mm reloads.

I've run Aimpoints ML2 & M2 on my 9mm AR conversions. Works great for quick target acquisition and accuracy. Faster than using iron sights.

I tried a red/green clonepoint and it wasn't the same, the parallax was bad compared to the real deal. I had to align the red dot with my front sight post to be sure to hit my targets. Much slower than using a real Aimpoint. About the same speed as using iron sights. Kinda defeats the purpose.

With the Aimpoints, I just had to put the red dot on the target with out worrying about my sigt picture and I would hit the targets. They were pretty much parallax free.

I have the Aimpoint ML2 in this video installed on the carbine.

You could always look for a deal on a used aimpoint.
