take scope off, or leave it on when done shooting?

once you have your scope mounted up and sighted in on your rifle, do you ever take it off or do you pack your rilfe away in your case/bag with the scope still mounted?

I am sure some of this might come down to the quality of mount you have, but curious as to what most people do at the end of the day when done shooting?

On my AR with an EoTech I never take it off & cut the foam in my Pelican case to fit it while mounted & packed. But on my new new AR I got a scope, I wonder if it is different SOP for most? Part of this is because I got a budget scope/mounts - my first scope - and am sure it will not be my last for this rifle as I learn more about them & what I like/dislike and so do not really want to cut the foam in my new Pelican, but if there is an overwhelming belief that once mounted and sighted in, you leave a scope on, I would likely do so.

Stays on unless the rifle needs to go to the gun smith.

Took my mini 14 ranch/target Leupold off for cleaning and had to shoot it in all over again.

Always on, unless it needs repairs.

Ya, you will deffinately have to re-sight it in if you take it off then put it back on. IT might not be off by much, but theres little or not chance that it will be right on again.

Only if you have a Larue mount.

Even mounts that claim repeatable zeros should be confirmed.

I've had my Larue mounts lose zero from being taken off.

HOW you mount/unmount matters, whether it's been done before, etc... all matter.

Don't do it unless you're forced to.

If you take it off, expect to re-sight in. Never take a scope off unless you have to, and then know that you will need to sight in again.
