    The best held Surefire Secret?

If you have a P91 lamp and thought you got 200 lumens, you were wrong.

As tested by MrGman at CPF here
This is the growing collection of Lumens readings taken in a real integration 6 inch sphere system over the last 5 years. More to be added. Orange readings are Incandescents, Truth is Truth. Make/Model Torch___________Real IS Lumens_______Batteries____________Notes_____________...

If you get a Surefire 9P add a extention to run 4 CR123 batteries, but instead you can use 2 AW li-on 17670's. This makes the voltage imput of 8.4v and 1600mAh capacity.

MrGman who has access to real integrated and calibrated lumens sphere got:

466 out the front lumens at peak.

The downside is the high current of over 2.6A makes runtime short, real short. 25~30 minutes only...

Test conditions are in this thread..
Finally MrGman got to test the P91. With 2 IMR 16340's and a non-UCL lens.....It was a Leupold hosts. 380 plus out the front lumens!!!!!!!!:D:D:D EDIT: The Surefire P91 Lamp w/ 2 AW 17670's topped off (4.2v EACH) and my Surefire 6P hosts w/ UCL lens and Solarforce 18650 extention...

      more data...

      This is a huge revelation...

No other flashlight or LED module in existance for such a small and compact P60 light makes over 500 lumens out the front. I have purchased 6 Malkoff MC-E and P7 drop-ins for Surefire lights and they come the closest at 450 plus out the front...

When you read a light makes over 500 lumens question its authenticity. All high end custom lights like the Leggion II, Solarforce L900m, or Custom Mag builds with P7 or MC-E's only make 650~750 out the front lumens.

MrGman even tested 2 super expensive Osram 6 die lights (Mac builds) that only made 650 ish out the front, but the LED is claimed to be up to 1300 lumens, which means its suppose to be 800 plus out the front.

Only custom and expensive lights have the potential to make over 800 lumens out the front and they would require 5 or more R2's or 2 or more P7/MC-E/Osram 6 die.

Don't believe the Ebay hype on 900~1500 lumen flashlights, they do exists, but at a costs.

        A whole bunch indeed.

To understand how much more that is. I had MrGman test the Deal Extreme R2 claimed at 200 lumens and the Cree R2 270 lumen you see on ebay. They make about 120 out the front on the same sphere.

I have an Alpha G8, this one claims 400 lumens on ebay. I will ask MrGman to test it and I am sure it makes under 150 lumens.

Here is my 5 R2 LED Zepplin Surefire M6 build. It does in fact cost more than any factory new Glock..ouch. (most custom knives too) but it does get a real 850 plus out the front lumens.
This is where you can read on post #1 and #3 all the different lights to see what they actually make.
