    I need a LIFE!!

Went on an optics spending spree this weekend.

Building a 308 AR has sparked a bit of a spending spree. The biggest dollar items being the optics.

I plan to shuffle some scopes around.

The 308 AR will get a Leupold Patrol 3x9-40 FireDot TMR Scope I already own. I ordered an American Defense AD-Recon mount for it. Already have a Weaver made 45% mount for the red dot. I have a Burris FastFire III but that will likely get upgraded before I'm done.

My Remington 700 Police LTR will get a Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14x50mm LR/T 30mm SF Illuminated Reticle with Type 1 Turrets I just bought used. The glass and functionality is supposedly perfect. But the finish is a little rough in spots. Which fits the rattle can look of the rifle well. It was a police trade in. The scope is period correct. Was a popular option with this rifle first came out.

My Noveske Recon Hunter will get a Leupold Mark 4 MR/T 1.5-5x20mm M2 Matte Illum. SPR Reticle Scope I bought used. Supposedly it is mint. Which is nice, the rifle is mint as well. Also picked up a Trijicon RM06 RMR I bought new. I already own the SPR mount for the scope. Picked up an Ariska offset mount for it.

Big Leupold fan as you can tell. Had good luck with the Mark 4. Actually a little bummed they held their value so well. Was hoping they would be cheaper by now.

    Sexiest scope of the bunch...

This one has some finish wear but the glass is supposedly perfect, the functionality is supposed to be as well. Got this one for a low price.

Everything else is new in the box so no pics of the actual items yet.

Mount I chose for my 308 AR build.

Yeah, big fan of the Mk 4 too.

First of the optics already showed up. The Trijicon RMR RM06. Going to be a backup sight on my Noveske Recon Hunter 5.56mm AR.

All the optics are here. Scope and red dot mounts for my Stag 10 and some other stuff is still on the way.

The older Leupold actually looks better in person. I used a rag and some cleaning solution to get the gunk and dust off it and most of what looks crappy in the pic rubbed right off. A lot less wear than I initially thought.

One thing I did notice is the Mark 4 is heavier than expected. Not so much so that it is an issue. Just stood out. The 1-4 is noticeably heavier than the similar Burris MTAC that I own. And the Larger scope is a lot heavier than the smaller but similar Leupold Patrol scope I own. I am not sure if this is them showing their age, or if it is just a consequence of them being made from higher quality materials and to a higher standard.

The 1-4's SPR reticle is actually going to take some getting used to. The positive is that there is less chance of missing a threat. The thinner lines compared to the Burris MTACs much larger horseshoe reticle means nothing gets missed. But it's also not as easy to see as the MTAC's. Nothing practice won't fix.

Nothing but good things to say about the larger scope as far as potential usage. The glass is perfect. The reticle is perfect. The few flaws in finish actually look good with the rattle can look the rifle has.

        Pics coming soon.

I had an MTAC that I ran in two comps. The gigantic size of the reticle and the lack of daylight brightness made me get rid of it pretty quickly.
Is the SPR reticle daylight bright? How is 1.5x setting? Is it pretty close to 1x power?

I could definitely be happier with it. Likely going to turn around and sell it for what I paid for it. Somebody else will appreciate it more.

I'm just not an LPVO guy when it comes to AR15 rifles. I wanted something different for this one. Since I have Aimpoint Micro Red Dots (T-1 and T-1) on my other two 5.56mm ARs. But I'm just not as happy with the LPVOs I've tried as I am a red dot.

Yeah, the Mk4 is somewhat heavy. However, they were built like tanks and handle heavy recoil and even the SCAR's which have a habit of shaking other optics loose.

I ended up returning the Leupold Mark 4 MR/T 1.5-5x20mm M2 Matte Illum. SPR Reticle Scope. Really glad the seller let me return it.

It is very well made. However, it just would not work well for what I wanted to do with it. The reticle was not daylight bright. Turned all the way up, outdoor midday it still looked black. And since the reticle was very thin it was impossible to see when moving quickly between targets.

                Kinda heart breaking.

The other scope is awesome. Perfect for target shooting (which is what I plan to use if for) or hunting. Once cleaned up 99% of the flaws shown in the picture went away. Just a tiny amount of finish wear. Which actually blends in nicely with my police trade-in Remington 700P LTR 308 rifle.

The RMR and the scope mounts are pretty awesome as well. But they were NIB so that was to be expected. Once I get the upper for that build (which likely will be forever from now since they are big time back ordered) I'll get some pics up of those. For now the RMR found a home on one of my pistols. I might pick up some more of those RMRs so it can stay there.
