Question - why are some rear sights 5mm thick and others are longer....2 cm with a channel in the center that widens near the front? i know why you need a notch but what's the deal with the extended notch/channel, other than to see the front sight and why the lenght?
I havea G34 Gen5 MOS. i'm not going to use an optic b/c i want to use it in the tactical division of 3gun. So, for now i just need iron-sights......as most people know glock put $20 plastic sights on the gun. BOOOOOO!!!
So i was looking at something along the lines of the Ameriglo Spartan Operator sights. I like the way they look, plus i want an orange front and green rear night-sights. i don't know how far the rear sights would hang off the back, if at all. I'm trying to find specs online that give that measurement from the dovetail to the end of the sight. don't know what height to get. and then the first big question...what is the purpose of the the length of the rear sight???

I also have no clue (in general) regarding what height i should be looking at for competative target shooting, or any other shooting for that matter :0
i read a thread where a seemingly knowlegeable guy said .200 is standard but he uses .180 on all his fronts. i can see buying each piece separatly for personal taste but when you buy a standard pack they just bundle front & back together and don't seem to give you a choice of height, as i've seem on ameriglo's website (which is super lacking for info on their products).
i'm open to suggestions, but i don't want to put supressor sights on b/c i don't need them at the moment and hate the way they look. Not-Purddy
