Anyone running the Scalarworks Leap04 mount with a Holosun 509T? After having my mind set on an Eotech EXPS3 and magnifier, I went a totally different direction. This will be on a 13.7" Ballistic Advantage pinned to 16". Should I have gone with the Eotech?

Scalarworks Leap04 mount w/ Holosun509T

It's fine for a dedicated range gun, but I think the 509T is too small to run on a fighting/competition carbine. The small lens will make it hard to acquire the reticle unless you're perfectly lined up.
The Holosun 510C is more similar to the Eotech.Last edited by teflondog; 01-26-2021, 11:36 AM.Originally posted by G. Michael HopfHard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times. -
I think you're right. I was thinking some of the red dot sights are small and tubes are very narrow, so this MIGHT work, but I think my son just got a pretty good upgrade for his 15-22 with irons on it.
I should of just went with my gut and got the Eotech EXPS3. I owned the Holosun 510c and it was a good optic, but the mount it came with was horrible and fell off twice when the rifle got hot. I was looking for the Holosun 512c but those are out of stock everywhere.
Buy once cry once. Thanks for your input.Comment

If you run the 509T on your rifle, I would mount it as far back as possible on the rail (right up against the rear BUIS). That will make it easier to acquire the dot.Originally posted by G. Just received the 509T today and I think it will work where I normally mount my red dot sights right at the end of the receiver before the handguard. I held the 509T at arms length and it was still very visible. Also, if it fails, I think just using the smaller window could be used to make hits but I'll definitely need to test that out if that makes sense.
Should have the Scalarworks mount in tomorrow or Friday and hopefully it works out. If not, Eotech EXPS3 it is.
I'll try your suggestion for sure, thank you!Comment

Holosun, either you say you love them... or you hate them.
I would not spend Aimpoint PRO money on one.Comment

I'm honestly mixed on Holosun right now. I think their products are good but I'm now at the point of buy once cry once and don't settle.
I agree, if you don't have an astigmatism like I do, I would of rather purchased an Aimpoint Pro/Eotech or just save a bit more for something that you would trust your life with.
I will say this, with the Holosun 509T on the circle with the dot in the middle, it is much better for me then just the dot. No bursting like the single dot and its clearer/sharper.
From here on out after having red dots, red dots with magnifiers, LVPOs, LVPOs with offset red dots, I think an Eotech with a 3x or 5x is the way to go.Comment
