Need Advice On Scope Mounts, Base, Rings

I recently bought a Weatherby Vanguard in 308 Win. I have a Vortex Viper 6.5x29x44 to put on it. I was going to buy the rings that Weatherby sells (made by Talley). They are a base and ring that Mount directly to the receiver. A friend told me that was a bad idea because they have very little flexibility.
What do most people do? Picatinny rail and rings, individual bases front and back and rings?

I just ordered a EGW 20 MOA scope rail today for my Howa 308. Still debating what scope I'll put on.

Very little flexibility in ring spacing for the scope will be my worries. I’ve used the 2 piece weaver base with one slot and I couldn’t mount a scope I like due to the eye relief position unless I cut the stock. The area where the flare for the objective bell and the adjustment turrets dictates how far back you can set the scope. I believe there is a bit of flexibility with the Talley’s by flipping them around. One piece picatinny rail base has more flexibility where to put the rings. Another advantage is an option of adding elevation/MOA for long range shooting. Some folks say they increase rigidity of the action conducive to accuracy. Some folks don’t like one piece bases because it decreases the area to access the ejection port in case a feed or eject malfunction occurs.

For me I just went with 1 piece picatinny for tactical/target bolt rifles and 1 piece Redfield type bases for hunting rifles.
