    Vortex UH-1 Vs. Eotech EXPS

I know this is redundant, but, alas this is a subforum on optics so I figured I would ask here if anyone has experience with these two optics. NVG capability being equal (EOtechxps 2 or 3) vs the UH-1, which did you like more?

Vortex lifetime warranty is nice, Eotech reputation is nice. I dont have much experience with red dot's minus the Leupold DPP and Comp M4 so enlighten me if you'd like! Thanks

Interested in this because I am trying to figure out optics for a home defense rifle out to maybe 300 yards.

There probably isn't a wrong answer here between these two. The Vortex's sure look cooler and have a newer and more interesting reticle, which also appears a bit crisper to my eyes at the brighter settings. The Eotechs have more "bloom". That being said, Eotechs have been fielded in mass numbers for a long time now by military and law enforcement so if I was forced to choose between the two of them, I'd still go Eotech. Some of the early Eotechs had issues but I think those are all probably 15 years in the past, so the Eotech track record and knowledge base after building a few million units would win the day for me.
Also, you can get an Eotech that takes AA batteries. That might not be something that matters to other people, and most people like the smaller exps units, but having something that runs on batteries that I always have around(and that other people do too) is really really nice. The Exps's look way cooler though.

Used the gen1 Huey and various Eotechs. The Huey (first gen) had a reticle cutoff issue if you were shooting from unconventional positions. I found it extremely bothersome, but maybe they've fixed that issue with the update. Eotechs are Eotechs, I enjoy shooting new iterations but you know down the road they'll probably have the same purge/glass issues the old ones did.

I would get a magnified optic if you want to shoot to 300

I own both, and like them both but I lean more on the Eotech for any home defense rifle, I have a EXPS on mine. If you’re by Los Angeles, I shoot at Angeles and you’re welcome to test both out.

Why do you need magnification to shoot to 300?

Depends if you like PID and hitting your target.
