Looking for AK and AR recommendations

New to the rifle world - just picked up Arsenal SAM 7SF. I also have an AR on order and hopefully pick it up within a month or so.

Looking for red dot or a magnified scope recommendations. Preferably something I can use interchangeable between AK and AR platforms (not sure if this is a good idea or not).

The Arsenal wasn't cheap so I would like to stay on a budget - preferably under $300.

Maybe with black Friday and Xmas sales I can find a good bargain.

Within that budget I would recommend looking at sigs Romeo red dot, it's decent and vortex for lpvo, their cheap stuff is decent.

Worth mentioning, why interchange them?
Once you get glass for something leave it there, familiarize yourself with your rifle. Get each rifle it's own dedicated glass. Maybe that is a red dot for one and a lpvo for the other.

Another route is to familiarize with irons before you worry about putting glass on it. Another way to put it is ammo and training should be a priority over glass.

The Primary Arms Cyclops 1X with ACSS reticle and an RS Relate Regulate side mount seems to be decent in your price range. I believe they make a 5.56 and a 7.62/300BLK version. Rob Ski sells them in a bundle on his site.

Otherwise I concur with Sig Romeo or Vortex for a RDS.

Switching optics between rifles is kind of a pain, because you'll have to re-zero the optic each time you switch rifles. You can experiment with one optic for both rifles, but eventually you will probably get tired of doing this and end up buying a separate optic for each rifle.

For home defense (day or night) and shooting out to 100 yards, a red dot is probably the best option. Sig Sauer Romeo 5 is a good affordable red dot. If you want to shoot farther than 100 yards, consider a scope instead of a red dot. LPVO (low power variable optic) are versatile because you can use them at short range on 1x and then change to 4x, 6x, 8x or even 10x for longer range shooting. Or you can just get a long range high power scope, but it will be hard to shoot close range (such as for home defense).

Your AK will shoot pretty flat out to about 150-200 yards and your AR out to about 250-300 yards. If you want to shoot farther than that, you might need a scope with a BDC (bullet drop compensator) reticle to help you lob shots at your target.

I recommend starting with an affordable red dot, then looking at more expensive red dots and scopes later. Have fun!

Congrats on your purchase. I have the same rifle, but it looks a little different now.

You want a dedicated red dot/scope for each rifle. At the very least, you don't want to have to zero each time it goes from one to the other.

If you're looking for a LPVO scope, PA makes a 1-6x24 ACSS reticle for 7.62x39. I had one on mine and I was able to hit man-sized targets out to 400 yards using the BDC, but decided to swap it out for a red dot because I wanted something lighter.

I think you can pick one up for a couple hundred bucks.

If you want "affordable" quality red dot, Trijicon MRO is a good option. If you want a lower priced option, I think Holosun makes some decent red dots.

If you're interested in the PA LPVO ACSS, PM me and I'll let it go for a low price since I'm no longer using it.

I would up the budget, good optics aren't cheap, buy once cry once. Get 2 optics. Either a LPVO such as the NF NX8 1-8 or a fixed low power ACOG. Otherwise go with Aimpoint Micro series, or any other Aimpoint you like. Buy the RS Regulate AK-301M or AK-303M with corresponding upper mount for your SAM7.
