    Slug barrel scope

    Hi calguns,

I have a 870 rifled cantilever slug barrel that I need a scope for. I will be using this for maybe one hunting trip every year or two so honestly I'd rather spend as little as possible.

Anyone have any recommendations? Also any insight into what magnification you like for your slug barrel would be greatly appreciated!

Nothing more than a red dot.

EVEN with slugs, a red dot will do you fine to 75 yards.

Thinking I can push 100 yards with a sabot slug, right? Probably some low level of magnification is nice.

Nikon Slughunter was on my H&R slug rifle. I've taken pigs past 120 yards with it. Inexpensive, and works very well. BDC reticle, and ballistic info on the Nikon web page works nicely. I now have one on my Savage 212 slug rifle, and it clover-leafs at 100 yards. I would not hesitate to take a 200-yard shot on a standing animal.

Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!
