Got a scope for my AR... but I have magpul BUIS... might as well have them both on the rifle and usable... I see everyone post about offset BUIS sets, but I found these pic rails that attach to the current one and add offset pic rails as well... Is using these with my flip-up BUIS a bad idea? Doesn't seem like many people are doing this

Offset rail for BUIS?
Tags: None -
did u already mount the scope? Warne sells a mount with the offset rail built into it. Personally id go with a trusted name versus something cheap off amazon. It may be fine for a range toy but I try not to put cheap crap on any of my weapons. Buy once/cry once.
EDIT: arisaka, Daniel Defense, GG&G make offset pic rails. Id suggest those over the amazon specialsLast edited by enorbit3; 10-15-2020, 10:48 AM.LAPD CCW Timeline:

Magpul does have an offset version of the mbus pro's. You could pick up a set of those and use your current ones on your next rifle

Those mounts are cheap, no guarantee that they'll hold up to any sort of abuse (which is typically when you'll need a backup sight in the first place). Optic mounts are not an area that I recommend going cheap, as their only role is keeping your aim on target. If the rifle is for a range toy only, then by all means go ahead and try the cheap stuff - just don't be upset if it causes you more trouble than you bargained for.
I usually prefer to mount the MBUS normally, as they tend to fit underneath most scopes & mounts on an AR platform. Then just keep a handy tool in the grip in case you need to remove the scope for any reason. If you expect to need to change optics in a hurry, you can always spend extra to get a quick release scope mount from LaRue, ADM, Bobro, etc. and have confidence that you can remove & return to zero close enough for government work.
If this is something that you plan on using for serious tasks (home defense, hunting, competition, etc.) then I would recommend getting a quality set of offset sights like the MBUS Pros, or get a Warne RAMP mount and put a quality micro red dot (Aimpoint, Holosun, Primary Arms Advanced) on the 45 degree mount.WTB: Beretta 92/M9 series (non-railed), Remington 1100 LT-20,Comment
