    Micro Red Dots

I need someone with experience with these as I bought two Burris Fastfires and mounted them and forgot about it till I want to go to the range tomorrow. I had some issues with screwing the battery cap down and obviously stripped them because it a 2mm thread cap.

I do not know if anyone has also had this issue and since its been a long time I'm out $400, which sucks but it is what it is. I need a moderately priced Micro Red Dot but has a Battery door that has better than .005 micron threads, that secures itself without question. Thanks in advance.

HOW can you possibly be out the cost of TWO FASTFIRES when BURRIS has a NO QUESTIONS NO HASSEL warranty??????????????????????????????????

One time I broke a FF3 with a screwdriver and they sent me a new one. I have also had a RT-6 fixed under warranty. They have a great warranty.

I think some battery doors unscrew (a steel screw) and slide out. New Holosuns?

Get an RMR? Fast Fire III's are great. Learn to screw?

Ya I filled out a case with them and will see what comes of it. Looking around I'm not the first thus happened to. They stripped out immediatley when I was trying to screw down the cap. There's like 2 revolutions of super small and tight threads with no indication when the threads start or finish.

Stripping screws on those micros is actually quite common.

One of the reasons why Swampfox now offers this:

We make great dot sights for your pistol. You have a slide, adapter plate, dovetail mount, or custom gunsmith cut. Putting them together? Its gotten complicated. Swampfox has your back with the Red Dot Screw Pack, containing 15 four-screw sets of various thread pitches and lengths. When you run into mounting trouble, these small-head, T10 screws are the most likely to be the “problem solvers” needed to attach Kingslayer, Liberty, Justice, and Sentinel to those slides and mounts. Five sets of Do-It-Yourself screws (6-32, 4-40, 6-40, M3, M3.5, M4 pitches) deliberately feature a too-long-for-everything 14mm effective thread length. If all else fails, grab your Dremel or belt sander and trial-and-error cut them for a truly custom fit.

I'll take a look next time the batteries die... I have three of those FF3's. Had to install batteries in all three a few times.

I just got a couple SF red dots and a prism... mounting the Justice 1x27mm as soon as my offset mount is here.

BUT we were talking about the relatively soft aluminum round battery cover threads. when you have to tighten down the battery after installing it. Not mounting screws.

Oh yeah, you're kind of screwed if it's the battery cover.

I've done this myself with my Vortex Razor and they just sent me out a new one.

Seems a tab and turn system would be the better design. With the padding and hight of screw it starts canted when tightening. I'll call burris tomorrow If they dont answer my case email. Still went out today, been forever, and shot a few hundred rounds. Yup everything still dialed in =).

I think the Holosun 507k has an external battery, the rds doesn’t need to come off of the gun to change the battery. I have the super cheap and plastic Sig Romeo 0 and so far so good.

One of the reviews I read for the Sig Romeo Zero is that it needs to be removed for battery replacement.

Take a look at Holosun's options. I have a 508TV2 and the battery housing is on the side so you can set it and forget it. There are other advantages of going with their setup as well but that has been exhausted on this forum already...
