Another user here and I got the horseshoe reticle and both of us have complaints about how the reticle lens element is mounted inside the tube.

Per Trijicon's explanation, the glass is purposely canted to ensure function of the illumination. The drawback for this is that the lateral edges of the reticle are blurred since they are closer/farther than the ideal focal length of the eyepiece.

If I were to get another ACOG, I'd get one where the reticle only occupies the center axis and thus stays in the ideal spot and remains focused. I think that is found in chevron reticles with a basic BDC feature.

I've had a ta11 w/red doughnut reticle for years now and have had zero problems. It works as well as the 33's I use on a couple of other AR's.

I use the bdc lines for ranging only because every time I switch loads the bdc is off. Not really a huge problem though. Generous eye relief and tough as a tank.

As long as you use it for intended purposes (fast/accurate magnified shot placement) it will serve well. It is NOT a target rifle optic.
