    3x or 5x magnifier

I have a EOTech on my 16" 556 AR15 and am wanting to put a magnifier on it. I am torn between the g43 and the g45.

I would go with the G45. It has more magnification with a negligible weight increase.

I find a lvpo with an offset dot better than red dot and magnifier

Between those two G43. You get better field of view. And if you need more magnification then 3x get a LPVO.

Depends on your chosen application for your AR. Since we're talking about a carbine barrel, I'm assuming closer-distance self defense, as in, up to 200 yards. In that application, I'd go for the 3X for the wider field of view.

If you are looking to shoot farther, then I'd consider a 2-7x33 variable power scope. They're small enough to be non-obtrusive and versatile enough to get you to 500+ yards.

I personally prefer just an Aimpoint on my AR and find it is remarkably accurate out to 200 yards or so. If you really want a magnifier, and if it is one of those flip aside magnifiers to be employed when needed, then get 5x. When I coyote call on my bolt gun with a variable, I set it at 5 and leave it alone, and can acquire yotes easily at 20yds, and 5x lets me crosshair them out to 400yds just fine. If I can hit them at 400 is another story ...haha

I would go with the 3x since you have a holosight. The 5x might be a bit of overkill for close quarter. If you want to shoot over 300 yards then ditch the red dot/holosight and get a LPVO.

3x all the way, 5x Id go LVPO as stated.
