Vortex Sparc AR - battery draining with optic "off"

And I put "off" in quotes, because I THINK it's off... but I still see the faintest of dots - like an NVS setting - when turned all the way down. Is that "normal," and has anyone else experienced this.

I just bought this (used, locally) in April. Put a brand new Energizer lithium battery in it, and it's been in storage ever since. I finally went to bore sight it on Monday, and discover the dead battery!

It's on my AR.22 - I run T-1's on my REAL rifles . I'm quite familiar with Aimpoint products, and have run EOTechs & Trijicons as well. This is my first Vortex product, and am not familiar with their "eccentricities" yet. Anyone else experience this, and/or know a fix?

The middle button is NV. Push it. The on/off button is on the side. You can just turn it off and save battery.

Mine must be an older model. There is NO "middle button," and NO power button on either side.





I have, for the time being, simply taken the battery out, and stored it in the grip. Heads up for anyone else running this model!

Ive had one for years with the first battery. Hold the down button and it turnoff.

Well, I DID that. Not only did it drain the first battery, I can still see the faintest dot, even when I hold it ALL THE WAY DOWN... and for 30 seconds afterward.

Tell Vortex. They are very likely to replace it for you.

I'm on my first battery on both of mine too FWIW (unlike any Trijicon sights I own)... I have the same model you posted I think (few years old?). I powered both on in the past month after they have been sitting in the safe. Don't use them much but they do not seem to drain power while off.

Yeah right arrow / down arrow press for three seconds and it goes OFF. Dot will not dim at all... just blinks off after three count. I killed my RMR battery by leaving it on last time I messed with it. It'll happen again, I 'm sure.

You need to hold the up button to turn off. What you were doing was just bringing it to the lowest setting!
