Do you register scopes and sights?

I wonder if I should register my stuff. The pro is that in case it gets stolen it can be traced back to me but the con is that it starts the limited time warranty.

Should I register my scopes and other sights?

It can be traced back to you without registering it too. It won't make it any easier or harder.

If you can describe what it looks like, you can get it back from the police.

Easier to use the International Registrar of Registrations.

If it is for a warranty policy from the manufacture, and that warranty will eventually sunset after a time period post purchase, than YES. You might need to return it for some unforeseen reason.
For theft protection, it is very easy to simply photo document your items, and store the images remotely on either a thumb drive, disc, or even the cloud if you trust it. That will also help with a possible insurance claim (homeowners or additional policy element), and a police report if you chose to. If you are concerned about what the accessories are afixed to, remove them from those firearms, take the photos, and reinstall.
Also note that many firearm-related accessories manufacturers will often repair/replace many items without prior warranty registration. I've bought a couple of high-end optics and firearms that had been damaged, and sent them in. In nearly all cases the items were repaired, upgraded, and shipped back, all without charge. Few other industries do that for consumers.

I do that because it makes warranty calls easier and sometimes you get freebies for registering. Nightforce at one time would send you their $250 Unimount for registering their scope. Sig would send you their see through lens caps for registering their red dots.

My experience with manufacturer warranty registration was when requesting warranty assistance they also required proof of purchase, yes it was redundant but requested ,so dragging your feet to register doesn't buy you more time.

Register?? No and most manufactures do not keep a register of them.
Take a photo of the firearm with the scope and such. Write down any brand/model/serial numbers of the firearm/scopes/other stuff and put it into a safe spot.
Brownells make a great Personal Firearm Inventory kit. You get enough for 25(as I remember) and you need a binder for them. I am on my 3rd 4" binder. They have room for sales slip/all needed info/photo and manuals and such that came with the firearm.
