    30mm scope on AR15

    I'm putting a new scope on an AR15 , it's a 1-8x, 30mm rings.

What is the best possible scope mount to get for the AR15?

I was looking at the Geissele Super Precision mount which looks pretty good.

What are some others I should consider?

I have both a Warne and American Defense Manufacturing. Picked up the Warne on sale for $65 and paid $165 for ADM. The ADM has quick detach which is a nice feature but not really necessary. Both are great mounts for the money I paid but the ADM is definitely a step ahead in the finish and overall quality. In that Geissele price range I would consider ADM, Scalarwerks and Larue. Scalarwerks is a unique system but not sure it's worth the price tag.

I like lightweight mounts - Aero Precision for me and they're reasonably priced when on sale... https://www.aeroprecisionusa.com/scope-mounts

I don't like having a scope and mount weighing 2lbs on my AR15. I try to use a medium light scope and lightweight mounts to keep everything close to 1lb. That's my preferred setup.

I agree with the poster above. Warne mounts are a great deal for the money, and I've been happy with mine.
Upping the budget to $140 can get you a LaRue LT204 with Quick Detach mount, which a REALLY good deal: https://www.larue.com/products/lt204/
ADM, Bobro, GG&G, Badger, and many others make great mounts, but I'm not sure you'll find much better value than the LaRue above.
I also have a couple Aero Precision ultralight mounts that have been good, but I wouldn't use them for long range precision shooting.

I'll second the LT. I used an SPR-E with the Leupold in days gone by on my SPR. When I went Vortex PST, it came WITH the Vortex mount - or I'd of kept my LaRue!

Was your "Vortex" mount a Bobro by chance? I know that Vortex had been selling Bobros under there own name. I have a couple of Bobro QD mounts. They're very nice also.

Larue still sells their LT204 mounts for $139, which is a good deal. When you first arrive the page says "$99.00", but that is only the price of the base itself. You have to buy the rings separate for $40. It's a truly stupid way to market them because you cannot, by any method, buy just the base alone (I tried because I have an extra set of Larue rings). But it is a nice mount:

My first choices would be Bobro and Geissele.

Seekins, Aadland, Spuhr, ARC are other mounts I like.

LaRue and ADM would be near the bottom for me for a precision optic.

Those are definitely top-tier brands that you recommend, and are popular for precision marksmanship. However, I think LaRue and ADM would be well suited for use with most 1-8x scopes, as I'm not sure a 1-8x qualifies as a true "Precision optic". Matching gear to the intended role is important.

Agreed, but he asked for the best possible, not the best for a 1-8.

I am leaning towards the scalarworks, looks like a really nice mount.

That's true! My skill level & use are suited just fine with mid-range gear. But those are definitely the top tier for those that can utilize it.

Aadland makes perfectly suitable ones for that. The owner is an engineer.

                        Spuhr makes them too.

I'm happy with numerous Warne Xskels... if I was going to get a QD I'd get a Bobro for sure.

GDI and the OEM Aimpoint PRO mount that I consider QD have been great too.

Scalarworks just arrived and mounted the scope. This mount is a work of art, it's absolutely awesome. One of the best scope mounts I've ever handled.
