40mm is the obj... it is all about the "height" of your rings

1in is the tube size... u would have to figure out what's the size of the tube of your scope

how about tell us which scope you are looking at?

So yes, 1" rings will work with that scope.

Awesome thanks. Does this scope mount have a good height?

What rifle are you mounting it on? How will it be mounted?

If on a flat top AR, then yes.

What he said - this is strictly an AR mount.

I've got a couple, and haven't had a chance to do much with them yet, but right now the PEPR is looking like the best bet in a sub-$100 AR mount.

The other 2 important questions are whether it will give you enough forward offset (this depends on the eyepiece length, eye relief, your stock, and your shooting style), and whether it will clear your BUIS if you're going to use one.

Assuming this is for an AR, give a few more details about the rifle setup, whether you shoot nose to charging handle, and what, if any, BUIS you're going to use, and we can give more feedback.

Most of the scopes are standard 1" tube mount. Now for an AR flatop you should get a 1" height, weaver / picatinny rail mount ring.

1" height if measured to the base of the ring (like Burris) - it should be 1.4-1.6" if measured to the centerline (like Leupold, Warne, and many others).
