    zero distance

I just mounted an accupower 1-8 on a SCAR 17. what's the best zero distance for that scope and rifle? I zeroed the irons according to the manual but don't really know about the scope zero distance. thanks.

I would say 100 Yards would be a good distance.

I use Maximum Point Blank Range (MPBR). The article is about ARs, but can be applied to any firearm

What is the best AR15 zero? It's one where you have to estimate distance as little as possible to hit your target. Point. Click. Hit. Read up inside.

that's what I initially zeroed at yesterday. but when I asked my friend what he zeroed his SCAR 17 scope at he said:

"mine is zeroed at 50 yd. 308 and 5.56 have same ballistics to 400+ yd. 50 yard zero allows you essentially point blank out to 250. beyond that you can use dials or reticle to compensate for elevation."

        so I was like hmmmmm…..

Some do 25yd zero and some do 50 yd zero. If you do that it's meant to give you relatively the same POA/POI at 200yds without needing to use dopes. But that's if your velocities are in the 3kish range. Obviously if you use lighter loads or a varying assortment of bullet weights it could change the POA/POI, the battle zero is a general approximation.

I have a free app, SBC light .
Input your numbers, pending your intended use
All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.
