Give Barska a call and explain what the issue is. They will likely charge you for trouble shooting, but the repair may be a quick fix they won't charge for.

Why spend a bunch of money, if you don't have to?

    It's worth a shot.

Barska is the only true POS optic I’ve ever owned. Toss it and move on.

I’m using a really old, no name, fixed spotting scope my dad gave me. It’s a third the size and 3 times better than the barska it replaced.

      Sorry I can’t give a positive recommendation.

          r8dr rider,

Do some research. If you don't mind used, vintage Japanese made Bushnell SpaceMasters, Bauch & Lomb, and Kowas are excellent and very affordable.
You can find them all the time on Ebay.

What do you want to use it for? Looking at bullet holes is a lot harder(and more expensive) then looking for mirage. Even high dollar glass suffers when seeing conditions aren’t good.
            What are your expectations?
Small holes can be hard to see on a black bull or target.
What type of scopes do you use now?
I should add... what distance do you plan on shooting at?

I can see bullet holes just fine with my old Leupold.

Buy any used 60 power with tripod for 100 yard spotting and call it good. If you were hunting and trying to pick apart bushes and animals etc... you'd have to get spendy. Using one for the range to look at holes in paper, with a roof above you, great glass is really not needed. It's not like you have to really evaluate the light shining through the hole you made. You're not judging horn length, picking apart junipers at 500 yards etc.. You can usually find cheap high powered spotting scopes for around $30.

I can see bullet holes through my rifle scope just fine. For 100 yards never needed anything else.

there is no free lunch with glass.
I would not by anything Barska, tasco, cheap bushnell, tacstar etc... throwing money away.
I do have a minox md 50 thats right in the middle of your budget (under $200) but it is mainly for hunting as its very compact and light. But works at the range and see Gong swing.
right now I am looking at the Athlon 15-45x60 to see bullet holes further out and still be able to pack it for hunting.
All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

I have a Konus with a 65mm objective and I like it a lot. A noticeable step up from the cheap crap I was using before. Wasn't super expensive and works great out to 100 yds which is as far as I can shoot at the ranges near me. I bought a better tripod for it that's sturdier and has more adjustments. Get an angled eye piece if you shoot from a bench often.
If your going to shoot distances a lot more than 100 yds then maybe the higher end spot scopes would be worth it but if not take a look at the Konus scopes. A good value IMO. Good luck.

Konus or Athlon are where I would look. Give Doug at cameralandny a call. Has some post shot show deals right now.
