    cheap 4x red dot scope newbie help

    Looking to buy a cheap 4x red dot optic. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct...tNumber=222166
    this isnt red dot but im wondering if you think this is any good? Anyone have any suggestions? also do I have to buy the mount separate and if so which one would you recommend?

    NcStar makes pure junk! Have experience with a Ncstar spotting scope that was like looking through toy binoculars.

    Either buy a red dot or low power scope, but not an "all-in-one" POS like this.

      Would this be a good scope? How do you base good eye relief based on ratings? I dont want my scope to run on batteries.

        First tell me what type of rifle, distance/targets you will be shooting, and budget, and we can come up with something that will work.

        The scope you linked to would be good for 15-100+ yard distances, and has 3.5" eye relief, so should work for most rifles. MUCH better choice than NcStar.
