New Scope for my 6.5 Grendel

I've been looking at buying the Bushnell AR Optics Riflescope 4.5-18x40mm for my 6.5 Grendel AR. I already have a Nikon 4-12x50 scope, but would like a bit more magnification out to 600 yards (getting older...).

Bushnell sells four versions of that scope, each with a BDC tailored to a specific caliber: (1) .223/5.56; (2) .224 Valkyrie; (3) 6.5 Creedmoor, and; (4) .308/7.62. My on-line research tells me that of the four options, the .308/7.62 version would best match the ballistics of my favorite 6.5 Grendel Hornady Black 123 gr. rounds at 600 yards.

Requesting your opinions and feedback please before I buy.

I took an looking for 800yards optic for my Grendel .
I narrowed it down to vortex gen 2 PST or nightforce shv mid power range . have you looked at those op ? Do you have to have BDC ? Yea , one thing I noticed was 308 n grendel have similar ballistic . wouldn't be bad idea if you just want to have one type of ammo to shoot out of .

Thanks. I just checked out both these scopes. No doubt, they're better than anything I've been looking at. But they're also about 4-5x more expensive. Trying to avoid having my wife beat me over the head with the new scope, so I'm trying to spend under $250. Any thoughts about the Bushnell AR Optics series? It would be used only for bench shooting, not hunting.

$250 is pretty limiting, especially if your eyesight is poor (like mine). You'll find that clearer glass will be much more helpful than more zoom in that price range. If your budget is firm, you will probably be better off getting an SWFA SS fixed zoom scope (10x or 12x) for around $300 new, or closer to $220-250 used. Since they have fewer moving parts, all the money in that optic goes towards glass clarity & durability.

DrewTheBrave - You make some very good points. I may be better off waiting until Xmas or my birthday to justify (to my wife, Lol) buying a better quality scope. After all, I do expect it to last for a really long time. Thanks.

Some suggestions:

-whether you go Moa or mil, make sure your adjustment turrets match your reticle
-bdc sucks.
-glass quality trumps magnification.
-ability to hold zero and accurate adjustments trumps all.

Im a vortex guy personally so I had a Viper pst 6-24x50 on my grendel but it was more than I really needed so I put that scope on my Creedmor RPR and dropped to a Diamondback HP 4-16 and I've never had a problem. Glass isn't as clear but its pretty darn close for half the price. The upgrade in price on scopes are going to get you clearer glass, more light absorption and better eye relief. There are some arguments towards durability too but if you're not running a carbine class with your grendel you'll be fine.

FWIW...I have a 4.5x18 Nikon Prostaff on my 6.5 Grendel from Amazon for $279 a couple years ago. Good glass and it is more then I need to get to 600 yards. Usually don't go beyond x12 magnification. Bushnell w/ same magnification would be a good choice.
