Best 1-8 First Focal Plane Scope

    Looking for a 1-8 LPVO.

    Must fill below requirements:
-Day time bright illumination for Red Color(I have heard the greens are weak)
-Generous Eye Box (would prefer that the eye relief not change between magnification levels)
-Non busy reticle, I kinda like horseshoe such as ACSS
-Under $2000, but would prefer around $1200

I have been looking at the Primary Arms Platinum and the Trijicon Accupower. The Accupower has really come down in price, I have seen as low as $1k.

Let me know if you see any better options or what you think of the 2 I'm looking at.

Will be mounting on 18" AR for possible competition use.

Were you able to compare it to any other similar scopes? What things did you like about it?

Nightforce NX8 1-8x24mm F1 riflescope combines compact size, true 1x speed, and 8x reach for carbines and lightweight hunting rifles.

Seems the Nightforce 1x8 checks most of the boxes.

Pretty close to true 1X. Can act like a red dot. Clear and bright image.

I don't know if I like the reticle on the NX8. I also like the turrets on the Accupower more. Also the Nightforce is on the higher end for the feature compared to the other options.

I think the lead contenders are the Accupower, the Burris XRII or the PA Platinum.

I don't have any of the above but I can speak towards the PA Platinum I do have which is the 6-30x56. It's built like a tank, glass is clear and sharp, and I have no doubts about recommending the Platinum Series.

In this price range, I'd take a Burris XTR II 1-8x over the others listed except the Nightforce, but you're not getting an NX8 for less than $1600.

The NX8 is the only FFP LPVO under $2,000 with true daytime brightness close to an Aimpoint and the Burris XTRII FFP 1-8 is bright enough for most conditions.
