I hope the link works... I've had this scope on my 45-70 for years and it's about perfect for it.
edited to add: Dang. Discontinued. That's a helluva' scope for the money. This is a nice, tight, compact scope that performs greatly. I have them on .45-70's down to 7x57 Mausers. Handles my hot .45-70 loads well and doesn't over-scope the 7x57.
Edited again: Looks like Amazon still has them, or at least something similar. https://www.amazon.com/Nikon-MONARCH...ateway&sr=8-83"I have no idea what WW-III will be fought with, but WW-IV will be fought with sticks and stones.". A. EinsteinComment

The VX-2 line of scopes was discontinued more than two years ago and the Monarch African was discontinued even longer ago I believe.
It’s a $1,000.00 rifle and $400.00 is more than you want to spend on a scope? $400.00 is less than half the cost of the rifle.
The VAST majority of 1895 owners I know don’t have a 8x-9x power scope on their rifles. In fact I’ve never seen it. That’s more magnification than is needed if the rifle is for hunting. 4x-6x max is all that’s needed.
Get a Leupold VX-Freedom 1.5-4x20, they can be had for $200.00. If you want to spend less than that the. Get a Burris Fullfield II 2-7x35. If it were me I’d get a VX-3i 1.5-5x20mm which can be had for $400.00 or a VX-R 1.25-4x28 which can be purchased for $500.00.Last edited by Horrendo Revolver; 06-21-2019, 9:03 AM.Comment
