Issue with cantilevered, quick release mount

I am mounting Leupold Scope using a Vortex Optics Precision QR Extended Cantilever 30mm Mount, with quick release levers. Im having trouble getting the second quick release lever to seat properly. I dont want to strip the nut on the other side to loosen. Is this defective, am I missing something, or is it ok for one of the levers to not lay flat?

Trying to doe the Pelican custom fit thing at home today.

Might sound stupid, but can you push it forward or back on the rail and latch back lever first? Is there an adjustment on bottom of mount?

Are you saying you’ve run out of adjustment on the nuts?

You can adjust the tension using a flat blade screw driver in the screw head on the opposite side of the levers.

I think you should use the correct tool, something like this but larger, look on Brownells.

Are you feeling some kind of resistance when loosening the nut on the opposite side? You shouldn't be stripping the bolt from loosening.

May be try a dab of silicon grease on the latch face, then latch both latches it 1/8 way closed at s time, cross tightening sequence.

take the mount off.
Put the lever in the closed open position.
Push the lever towards the nut.
The nut should come out of the base.
Tighten the nut half a turn at a time to fine tune the tension.

OP, don't buy what he posted. They are completely worthless for adjusting your mount. A flat head screwdriver will work best.

You don't even need a screwdriver.

Once you have the nut OUTSIDE of where its captured by the mount it spins freely.
