Will be going on a NorCal Ground Squirrel vaporizing vacation next month and I'd like to film some 40grain V-Max action! Actually just ordered a $250 Canon Vixia HD Camcorder from Costco but am thinking of returning it as I don't think it would get much use otherwise. I'm thinking spending the $ on a good Spotting Scope makes much better sense.
In looking at Spotting Scopes, I saw Vortex includes a gadget with some of their scopes called the Phone Skope. It allows one to attach a Smartphone to a spotting or rifle scope and use the phones camera to record video or take photos. Quality of the video would depend greatly on both the scope and the phone's camera. So, does anyone have experience with this Phone Skope adapter?
On a spotting scope in the $500 range, what is there worth considering besides the Vortex Diamondback? My use besides this search & destroy mission would be for range use out to 600-800yds max, looking at wildlife, in hot neighbors windows, etc.
