    Scope for a Steyr Scout

Looking for up to 5-7x magnification in a long eye-relief scope for forward mount on a Steyr Scout rifle.

Any good options out there? Typical "scout" type scopes seem to be in the 2.5-4x range. Thanks.

Hey guys - Haven't gotten any recommendations yet, but I do have a follow-up question:

What do you guys think of a <red dot + magnifier> type setup? People seem to do this on AR-type platforms. I'm talking about a Steyr Scout where I do want to forward-mount the optics, but also shoot accurately in the 300 yards range.

Would the <red dot + magnifier> be clear enough and hold zero reliably, while giving me the long eye relief - which seems to be its primary attractiveness?

    Thanks in advance.

Not sure what your budget is, but you should check out the Burris Scout Scope/ 2-7x32mm and Leupold VX-R 1.5-5x33mm. Both have extended eye relief and meet your medium magnification requirement.

        Exactly.
I use both on a variety of "Scouts", and it comes down to personal preference. The Leupold is a bit bigger/heavier, but offers the Firedot reticle that my aging eyes now much prefer.
The Burris is a very well made, stout optic that will last. It has worked on our Steyr for several years now.
