    Can't decide, please help!

I am looking for a scope for my new rifle. The rifle is a Remington 40XB KS in 300 win mag. This rifle is strictly for punching paper at distances between 300 and 1000 yrds. To be honest the majority of shooting will be at 300 yrds because that is the limit of my local range. I hope to try longer ranges when and where I can. My price limit at this time is around $800. I have been looking at scopes such as the Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14x40 LR/T, Nikon Monarch X 4-16x50, Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x50 and several IOR Valdadas 10x42, 10x56, and 16x42. All of these scopes involve a compromise and the more I read and research the more trouble I am having making a choice. Any input or other choices in my price range (with supporting reasons) would be appreciated.

Might I suggest a Bushnell Elite 6500? I've not used one yet, but I have used the 4200s and they are exceptionally clear and perform quite impressively. The 6500 has had very good reviews since it was released.

I know of a 4200 6-32x40 in near-brand-new condition you could get for relatively cheap; let me know if you are interested. It is a very very good scope and you should investigate it even if you later decide to buy something else.
