Mounting red dot on side rail?

Hi, I am thinking of running an offset red dot but instead of having it at a 45 angle I was thinking of placing it on the right side rail.

Anyone tried this out before? Or anyone have any adverse effects from doing this?

Where's your ejection port? Are you planning on holding your firearm "gangsta" style? Your position when viewing your RDS will be affected because you'll no longer be shouldering your rifle.

I had 45 red dot on my ar. It worked just like 45 degree lron sights. Shift up make shot. It makes sense if you have a magnified optic on top but it puts you in open in 3 gun
