    Which of 2 Vortex Scopes?

    For 75-(ish) grain .223 up to 600 yards with a $1,000 budget:
    1) Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 for $650 at eurooptic
    2) Vortex Viper PST Gen II 3-15x44 for $850 at sportoptics

    Thanks.

I have the Gen 1 6-24 and it's an awesome scope. The Gen 2 is better glass but also weighs alot more than the Gen 1. So it depends on what your intentions is with the rifle. Bench gun get the Gen 2, hunting rifle get the Gen 1.

If the budget is really $1000, I would definitely grab the gen 2. I would grab the 5-25 though personally. The gen 2s are feature rich and you will not be gaining any "value" buying a gen 1, they are miles apart and the extra cost reflects that.

I paid $900 for the PST 6-24x first focal plane, $650 is a crazy good deal. But if your budget can swing the Gen2 go for that but the 6-25x version.

Wish I would have gotten my PST 6-24 x 50 for $650. When it first came out I paid over a grand. That said, I love it and it has never let me down on paper or squeaks. Mounted on a Savage 10 FCP-K in 223 Rem.
